LvO goes Haute Couture

While we still stick to our core mission to produce unique clothes for women like you and me at accessible prices – I’ve come more and more across ladies who are to attend a wedding – or were even thinking about their own BIG DAY.

They asked me if I could design their wedding dress too? And naturally I said “yes”.

However, doing wedding dresses without having a permanent atelier/ showroom/ fitting room in Central proved to be a tough learning experience. And working on such highly detailed pieces besides my daily tasks was even more challenging. I remember meeting my first bride for her fittings in her short lunch break at the toilet of Pacific Place next to Lane Crawford. And what can I say, it simply didn’t feel right to drape high end silk organza in those shady cabins.

So you can imagine my excitement when I received an application by a “real” haute couture designer – Mrs Chelly Faten – our new design partner. The young Tunesian born designer is a third generation dressmaker/artist. Her grandmother had already started a bridal atelier which her mother Monia Bougmiza brought to fame. Little Chelly used to design clothes for her Barbies from her mother’s exclusive left over fabrics – and learnt embroidery techniques as young as six years old.

After graduating from the prestigious ‘Ecole de la Chamber Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne’ (the breeding place for the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino and Stephane Rolland), she created a few bridal collections in Tunisia to much acclaim – until her now husband captured her heart and finally brought her to our shores in Hong Kong last year.

I’m beyond excited to have her by my side and look forward to many incredible creations together.
